Steel Computer Desk
by Dave Harmon
I've been wanting to build an awesome over-designed steel desk for several years and finally got around to it.
The desk is made mostly from c-channel, 2x2 angle, and 1-inch re-bar.
The top surface is 1/8-inch sheet steel cleaned with hydrochloric acid and polished with an angle grinder flapper wheel. The gears are flywheels from an automatic transmission.
The desk weighs 350 pounds!
I did most of the welding with my Lincoln Electric Weld-Pak® 100 wire feeder welder. I have owned this welder since I was 18 and it is still my first choice.
*The above project images and descriptions have been published to show how individuals used their ingenuity for their own needs, convenience and enjoyment. Only limited details are available and the projects have NOT been engineered by the Lincoln Electric Company. Therefore, when you use the ideas for projects of your own, you must develop your own details and plans and the safety and performance of your work is your responsibility.
